Experimental Study on the Effect of Ginseng on Plasma Free Fatty Acid

Abstract
|
|
|
Sequential changes of plasma FFA, TG and glucose level were determined with fasting and ginseng administration in both six healthy men and six adult rabbits. The following results were obtained.
1. Plasma FFA were elevated on continuing fasting state in both human and animal whereas TG and glucose revealed the tendency of decrease.
2. Plasma FFA of rabbits lowered significantly with parenteral administration of ginseng extract 15mg/kg. However TG and glucose kept the level unaffected.
3. Plasma FFA of human volunteers were elevated with ginseng tea, 15 mg/kg. equiv￢alent ginseng extract accompanied by stable TG and glucose level.
4. The probable reason for the discrepancy between animal and cilnical experiment were discussed.
